“Redroofs is not just a school. It's a way
of life!”

Established in London in 1947, Redroofs Theatre School moved to Littlewick
Green, Maidenhead, in 1964 under the directorship of June Rose, Founder
and Principal. The house, previously the country home of the late Ivor
Novello, had been the rendezvous for most of the greatest screen and
theatrical artists of the era, and the inspiration for much of Novello's
music.
Redroofs has grown over the years to include a separate site for our under-16s; a theatre in Ascot, Berkshire; permanent offices at the prestigious Pinewood Studios; and uses further studio space at the stunning Norden Farm Centre for the Arts.
The School prides itself on its ability to bring out the best in its
pupils, and whether you are looking at Redroofs as a professional training
ground or a once-a-week activity, Redroofs is a school where pupils
are valued, where real confidence is borne and harnessed, and where
ambitions are recognised and encouraged.
Whilst careers in acting and, indeed, all areas of the performing
arts are notoriously difficult to sustain, the School, with its own
professional theatre and Agency, offers a realistic way into the industry,
encouraging a strong work ethic, adaptability and self-reliance. Our
student course is unique amongst drama schools in both considering
students from 16 years and also in encouraging its students to gain
professional credits whilst training.
Our "extended family" of ex-pupils working in the industry
today include theatre producers; fully qualified dance teachers; directors;
ADs; scenic artists; published writers; literary and theatrical agents;
stage managers and educationalists; as well as many working actors,
singers and dancers including household names, numerous BAFTA and
Oscar nominees ...and winners!
