Find out why by joining our next Taster Day on Monday 21st May!
I was showing a family around the school yesterday when we met with a current pupil. "Hello Sam" he said with a smile. "The children here smile alot" said our visitor to the boy. "Yes" he replied continuing to smile on his way to Geography. "Is school actually that much fun?" she asked. "Well" he considered " Let's put it this way. If I was an alien and you asked me if I should stay I'd tell you it was the happiest place on earth so you may as well."
Redroofs is more than a Senior School of the Arts. It is a vibrant educational option for young people with a Passion to Perform . Our youngest class is Year 6 (we also admit a few Year 5 children working within 6 where appropriate) and intake is generally at Year 6 and 7. We offer a sound and creative academic provision, within a non-denominational environment, where every pupil is expected to work to the best of his/her ability with exceptional pastoral care. For Gifted and Talented pupils there is plenty on offer. For those for whom the academic curriculum may be too challenging we are able to offer alternative or reduced timetabling.
We take pride in each other’s achievements, whether professional or curricular, and encourage a contribution to daily life from everyone who is part of our very unique school. There is plenty to do here outside of the core curriculum – professional performances, annual choir tours, endless competitions, after school clubs being introduced September 2011, and there is always a song to compose over lunch…
We offer a Dance Squad (entry by audition) giving a platform for additional performance opportunities for our most able dancers, a musical composition club, open to all pupils and an extensive range of creative clubs throughout the school year.
Autumn Term trips included a Careers Day "Offstage Choices" for our Yr 10 , Richard Alston Dance Company - Upper School Dance Show + talk at Wycombe Swan, a trip to the Degas Exhibition with a delightful practical art workshop at RAA, a meeting with Lucy Benjamin ; a trip to see "An Inspector Calls" to support GCSE English, a "Working Title Day" for BTEC sixth formers at BFI and the opportunity to see "Blood Brothers" to support Musical Theatre class learning.
