MOBILE PHONE POLICY updated October 2009
For many reasons pupils have their phones with them in school in particular those who travel by public transport.
- All pupils are required to switch off phones at the start of the school day and not to use them until the end of school.
- The phones are the responsibility of the pupil and should be insured accordingly.
- The School / individual staff members cannot take responsibility for loss or damage to the phone however caused.
- In cases of genuine need a phone may be left with staff in the office and the staff member will be given permission by the student to answer the phone. The pupil will only be brought out of class to answer a call where we consider it to be an emergency.
- Pupils may use their phones with permission only to telephone home in cases of auditions or professional commitments.
- Phones should be switched on during travel to and from auditions and switched off prior to entering audition venues.
- Phones found to be used in class or rehearsals will be confiscated and returned at the end of the school day, then will be required to be handed in again the following morning.
- Redroofs pupils are not permitted to take photographs on phones or to use recording devices in school without the permission of Senior Staff.
