Kate Winslet - how proud we are of her extraordinary journey and immense achievements and we congratulate her warmly on this wonderful achievement.
Our pupils have alot to aspire to! But as we recall saying to Kate - our advice remains - never try to have someone elses career. Be yourself! Be the first of YOU.
We also recall that she was very considered, very hard working, very eager to be her best, and had a sense of integrity. She was always passionate about classes and was a high achiever. Kate was at our day school from ages 11 to 17 and very rightly was voted in as Head Girl. While at the school she played a leading role in Get Back for the BBC and landed the lead in Heavenly Creatures through our agency a couple of months after leaving school. This took her to New Zealand for 11 months working with Director Peter Jackson. The rest is history!
First a part time pupil, Lucy played Sue in Worzel Gummidge with Jon Pertwee at the age of 10, and with a string of West End credits including Pepper in the original cast of Annie Lucy was awarded a scholarship to Redroofs Day School from where she had a significant child career. She later starred as Lisa in Eastenders and became a household name, bringing her opportunities to join other celebrities in the jungle and to enter ITV’s X Factor Battle of the Stars, which of course, she won!!!
Dani from Bracknell first appeared in the West End production of Tommy the Musical playing Young Tommy. Fuelled by early success she auditioned for Redroofs. When she was eleven she auditioned for and after several recalls was offered the title role in a new CBBC series written by Jacqueline Wilson. The series was very successful and Dani was recontracted, every summer for seven years! Dani was also an exceptional singer and dancer.
Jo Froggatt was 13 when she packed her termly suitcase in North Yorkshire and lodged with a host family in Maidenhead to enable her to follow her dream of being a serious actress. She landed a gritty role in "The Bill" at 14. Two years as Zoe in "Coronation Street" then "Heartbeat" and the wonderful "Nature Boy", followed by "Murder in The Outback". Most recently Marion in "Robin Hood", Maid Anna in "Downton Abbey" and a traumatised soldier in "In Our Name" for which she was nominated. An exciting, challenging and diverse career demonstrating that Jo is an actress of huge value to the industry... and now a Golden Globe winner 2015.
Kris joined Redroofs after graduating from Wells Cathedral School . He shot to fame as the older son in My Family and is of course the face of BT. An exciting and varied career! Most recently Death in Paradise.
