Based in Maidenhead, Berkshire, Redroofs Theatre School offers a friendly and encouraging approach to your childs education within a theatre school framework.
Our outstanding performing arts department comprises a once a week (after school or Saturday) department and the option of a full time Independent education for 10 to 18 years. We are the only theatre school in the UK offering an ISTD/RAD syllabus dance core training in addition to our wide variety of non syllabus classes and workshops.
Our co-educational full time school accepts children from Year 6 and also year 7 with further entry at 13+ and for Sixth Form.
Redroofs as a Full Time School (Years 6 to GCSE and then Sixth form) aims to offer a purposeful and inspirational education within a family school, for boys and girls with a strong creative bias. Our sixth form offers a BTEC Level 3 Extended Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) with optional DDI or a BTEC Level 3 Extended in Creative Media Production (film and television). We also offer a Part Time Sixth form option of a 10 or 15 hours of performance training with optional DDI Dance Teacher Training which can be combined with work.
With a total understanding of the commitments of children currently appearing in the West End shows (pupils in Matilda, Oliver on Tour, Les Miserables, Wizard of Oz, Billy Elliot etc) we promote pupils through our own agency whilst ensuring that their schoolwork is maintained. Many of our pupils work in film, television and commercials.
From Matilda the Musical - the parts of Matilda and Nigel played by Redroof's pupils Kerry and Jaydon and Issy joins them this September!
As part of our weekly timetable we offer professional development in RAD ballet, ISTD tap, ISTD modern, jazz, musical theatre, singing, drama and music and a full academic curriculum of up to 10 GCSEs (AQA) then to BTEC LEvel 3 Extended (equivalent of 3 A levels, taught in a highly practical Musical Theatre timetable.
Our vocational and academic classes are fully integrated into our 5 day programme where the standard day runs from 8.15-3, and Clubs, additional Choir and Dance Troupes run until 5pm. We are non-denominational. At Year 9, we offer either a Musical Theatre and Dance Specialism or Acting and Media Specialism.
Within our dynamic and popular part time department we aim to offer a full range of dance, drama and Musical Theatre classes each led by our friendly and well qualified teachers. Lots of performance opportunity and an active casting agency whose aim is to give children the opportunity to audition for, and work in, the West End shows, television film and commercials. Our most popular sessions are our Musical Theatre schools which run for two and a half hours each weekend.
We hope you will gain a sense of our unique school and that you may soon be part of the Redroofs story. We look forward to welcoming you to the lively and positive school that is REDROOFS.
