Established in 1947 by the late June Rose, we remain true to our history in wanting to enhance access to the best in the performing arts , whether for confidence, a healthy and sociable interest, artistic pursuit or to develop talent.
With an alumni that includes a long list of national and international careers and stars, among them Simone Ashley (Bridgerton), Kate Winslet CBE, Joanne Froggatt, Dani Harmer and Kris Marshall, Redroofs School for the Performing Arts is proud to know how to take a young person from hobbyist to the industry.
We are also aware that the long-term industry is not for everyone, and your child may have very different ideas — and these are equally valid. If your son or daughter will one day wish to stand up in assembly, to present to a board, to join the bar, to go to Drama School, to become a theatrical agent, these are just a handful of reasons why our offering is right for your family.
We also know the excitement of the West End. We have trained cast members of Matilda the Musical, Oliver!, Les Misérables and more — and to experience the magic of theatre with a student of theatre is one of the most special things a family can share.
We are not a franchise. Your child matters hugely to us, and we have taught many second and third generation Redroofians. This is a family school with an abundance of opportunities, run in our dedicated studios in Central Maidenhead.
In 2025, June Rose was honoured in the In Memoriam segment of the Olivier Awards with the highest tribute British theatre can offer. It was a recognition of her extraordinary service to the performing arts industry.
We continue to offer exemplary performing arts training every evening and weekend to students from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and West London. We want all of our pupils to know that they are valued, and our aspiration is for this to be your child's happy place.
Through our Agency and wider alumni and connections we pride ourselves on creating and celebrating opportunities for our pupils in professional theatre, television, film, commercials and recording. We share some of our successes in our weekly newsletter, so you will always know what is happening here. Many productions operate under an NDA, so we cannot always share details , but we work hard for the children.
Former pupils of Redroofs include Oscar, Olivier and Emmy award nominees and winners. At any time you will see our successful students and alumni in TV shows, long-running series and on the screen at your local cinema.
Our students come to us evenings and weekends. Some come twice a week. Some come four times. We offer an Elite programme for dedicated talent, a Gold Team, an Actors Studio and more. Our agency places students in professional work.
Our relationship with one of the largest extras agencies in the industry, AKA, run by Katy Wood, herself an alumna of Redroofs , means the children we train are seen by people who matter. Katy's love of the film industry began in the Harry Potter years, and Redroofs supplied children to all seven of the Harry Potter films.
